Our Word For The Year 2008
In 2008, First Hurst is going beyond where we have been before. We find encouragement to pursue this both from God's Word and from God's people.
From God's Word:
- From Deuteronomy 3: There is more work in which we need to be involved, so we're going beyond the work we've already done. There will be challenges and obstacles to overcome, but beyond them we will find good things and promises from God as we follow Him closely.
- From Matthew 4: As multitudes from beyond Jordan followed Jesus, we want to be a part of seeing multitudes throughout Northeast Tarrant County and across the globe follow Him.
- From II Corinthians 8: The churches of Macedonia were commeded for giving beyond their ability. While God won't call us beyond our abilities, He does call us to give beyond how we've given in the past.
- From II Corinthians 10: Paul recognized a providential orchestration of events so that he could preach the gospel to the regions beyond. In the same manner, we want to go beyond where we have gone before, as God opens doors for us to share and to spread the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
From God's people here at First Hurst:
- "We are going beyond the walls of this church. We're out in the community, in West Africa, in North Dakota, in Russia...wherever we need to be we go."
- "Our people are going to go beyond boundaries."
- "We're going to have to step out of our comfort zone and go beyond what we're used to doing."
- "God has grand plans for us as a church, for us as individuals, and for the ministries that we have."
Ask yourself these questions:
- How would God have me go beyond who I have been up to this point?
- How would God have me go where I have never gone for Him before?
- How would God have me go and do what I have not done yet for His glory and in obedience to His will?
- How would God have me go beyond in 2008?
We thank God for all of His past blessings and provisions, and we look forward to the future with great anticipation. We take God at His Word, at His promises, and we take His hand in order that together, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we might reach beyond for the good of thousands and for the glory of our God.
